Health and Fitness
YMCA Health and Fitness is not only about physical fitness. The YMCA concept of "Wellness" goes beyond just physical fitness. It is a way of life in which each person believes in his/her God-given potential and seeks fullness of life with a balance of spirit, mind and body, as represented by the YMCA's red triangle.

With that concept, the YMCA provides a wide variety of opportunities to exercise for people of all ages and abilities. Believing that "every person is important," the YMCA responds to people's various needs and provides them with an opportunity to meet new people, make friends, find value in their lives, and create "wellness lives."

Before the World War II, the YMCA pioneered new Western games such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton, as well as recreational activities such as folkdance and bowling. The YMCA also opened Japan's first indoor swimming pool.

" Childhood Programs "...... Playrooms and "swiminar" aimed at enabling children to experience the joys of fitness and play as well as exercise social cooperation with friends.
" Youth Sports "...... Swimming, gymnastics, basketball, and soccer, following the YMCA's 5 goals for youth sports: fun, fitness, fair play, improving skills, and values.
" Aquatics Programs " ......Scuba diving, water walking, water survival and swimming courses for all levels - including those with disabilities.
" Fitness Exercise "...... Machines, free weights, aerobics, yoga, and tai chi.
