YMCA/FCSC autumn Charity Concert a Success

Czech Ambassador Karel Zebrakovsky hosted the 2003 YMCA/Foreign Community Supporting Co-mmittee Autumn Charity Concert, gStrings & Valves,h on Tuesday, Nov. 25, with the event raising nearly JPY 1 million for challenged children throughout Japan.
The Czech Philharmonic Viola Quartet performed pieces by both international and Japanese composers, while the Mike Price Jazz Triofs relaxed style and wonderful interpretations of timeless classics had the audience tapping their feet along with the music.

Food and canapés were served in the intermission while a raffle was held. The fist prize of a Czech Bohemia crystal vase, kindly donated by Ambassador Zebrakovsky, was won by Shuhan Kunikata. The money raised from this event goes to support the development of mentally and physically challenged children through camp and fellowship activities, run under the auspices of the National Council of YMCAs of Japan, as well as promoting integration to, and acceptance by, mainstream society. |
Among the honored guests was Canadian Ambassador Robert G. Wright and wife Carol Smith Wright, who graciously agreed to host the next YMCA/FCSC Grand Gala Charity Ball at their residence on Friday, Apr. 2. (Further details to be announced.)
The YMCA/FCSC is a volunteer group of ambassadors and international business, community and social leaders who desire to contribute to Japanese society and have been working to improve the quality of challenged childrenfs lives since 1957.
