2004 YMCA Grand Gala Charity Ball

Canadian Ambassador Robert G. Wright and his wife Carol Smith Wright hosted the 2004 YMCA Grand Gala Charity Ball April 2nd. The evening, held in conjunction with the YMCA Foreign Community Supporting Committee (FCSC), raised JPY4.2 million for the YMCA Challenged Children Project, which supports local camps and programs for mentally and physically challenged children.

The elegant evening included a champagne cocktail reception, the champagne supplied by Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton Japan’s Emmanuel Pratt, and an exciting raffle, the top prize of which was Business Class tickets for two to Hong Kong, donated by Cathay Pacific.

Fine wines were donated by the hosts, as well as the Australian Ambassador John McCarthy and New Zealand Ambassador Phillip Gibson. Beer came courtesy of Czech Republic Ambassador Karel Zebrakovsky.

The YMCA/FCSC is a voluntary group of ambassadors and international business, community and social leaders who desire to contribute to Japanese society. It was established under the National Council of YMCAs of Japan in 1958, to support and raise awareness of YMCA activities.
